This Bible study devotional covers 2 Samuel 2:8-4:12. In this passage, Saul’s son and general set up a rival kingdom to David’s. It’s marked by political cunning, force, and spy craft. But this is the wrong way to set up a kingdom. David overcomes Saul’s dynasty not with politics but with prayerful waiting. As always, we are committed to showing you how to see the good news of the Gospel in every passage of Scripture. In 2 Samuel 2:8-4:12, we see that David’s rise to power is a picture of how God brings his Kingdom in a complex and competitive world like ours. Just as David rose to his throne and Jesus rose from the dead, the humble will one day rule the world. What we must do is wait.
