What is the best money advice you’ve ever received? There are many good ways to use money, but according to the Bible, giving is the best and wisest way to spend our money!

There are many famous quotations about life, but do we know the source? One of the most famously-quoted verses, “It is more blessed to give than to receive” was from Jesus and was quoted by the Apostle Paul in Acts 20:35.

We will look at giving and why it’s the best use of our money because it honors God, it blesses others, and lastly it reaps rewards. The order is not by accident, instead it is in descending order of priority.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  • What is your view of tithing/giving, and how do you practice it?
  • How can you bless someone in need this week?
  • How have you seen God bless you as you bless others through tithing/giving?

MEMORY VERSE

Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

2 CORINTHIANS 9:6-7

PRAY, CARE, SHARE

  • Pray for people to come to know the graciousness and generosity of God through Jesus.
  • Demonstrate to others God’s goodness through your giving from the heart—especially to the poor among us. Invest not only towards the physical needs of others, but towards their spiritual needs.
  • Share the gospel to someone you know who needs Jesus.
