This Bible study devotional covers 2 Samuel 1:1-2:7. In this passage, David learns that Saul and Jonathan have died. David grieves publicly but ultimately takes the throne and establishes his kingdom. As always, we are committed to showing you how to see the good news of the Gospel in every passage of Scripture. In 2 Samuel 1:1-2:7, we see why Jesus is a worthy King. He would rather die as God’s anointed than celebrate the death of his enemies. And Jesus rises to power not to end a vendetta against us but to invite those loyal to the powers of darkness into a new covenant with him.
